Camping on the Zambezi is one of those experiences that sounds adventurous on paper and turns out to be even better in practice.
The Campsite
Our campsite sits directly on the Zambezi bank, with individual stands set under shade trees facing the river. Each stand has power, and the ablution facilities with hot showers are genuinely excellent.
What to Pack
Essential: Torch, insect repellent, malaria prophylaxis (consult your doctor), sunscreen, cash in USD.
Wildlife Safety
Hippos come ashore at night to graze. Do not camp directly between a hippo and the river. Do not swim in the Zambezi — crocodiles are present throughout the river.
